Gadsden — USW represented locals at U.S. Steel's Fairfield Works dug deep in their pockets for their striking brothers and sisters at the Goodyear plant in nearby Gadsden. With Christmas fast approaching, the members of USW Locals 1013, 2122 & 2210 gave just over $3800 in a gate collection at the Fairfield plant on December 6.
On Wednesday, December 13, representatives from the three locals, including Local 1013 President Steve Tunello, Local 2210 President Mary Holland, Local 2122 Recording Secretary Walter Evans and Local1013 Rapid Response Coordinator Jason Miller along with Sub District Director Daniel Flippo made the trip to Gadsden to offer words of encouragement to the strikers at Local 12, and to present Local 12 President Dennis Battles and Vice President Bren Riley with a check for $4570.
“This is what it's all about”, said Flippo. “Our members at Fairfield want to do their part to make sure their brothers and sisters at Gadsden get all the help they need.”
Another gate collection is scheduled at Fairfield Works for Wednesday, December 20, 2006.
